Original 1969 U.S. first issue stereo promotional pressing released on the white & black Atlantic label SD 8216.

Description :

Super rare white label first issue U.S. promo pressing. Incredibly hard to find Led Zeppelin rarity. 

Led Zeppelin is the debut album by the English rock band Led Zeppelin. It was recorded in October 1968 at Olympic Studios in London and released on Atlantic Records on 12 January 1969 in the United States and 31 March 1969 in the United Kingdom. The album featured integral contributions from each of the group's four musicians and established Led Zeppelin's fusion of blues and rock. Led Zeppelin also created a large and devoted following for the band, with their take on the emerging heavy metal sound endearing them to a section of the counterculture on both sides of the Atlantic.

Although the album initially received negative reviews, it was commercially very successful and has now come to be regarded in a much more positive light by critics. In 2003, the album was ranked number 29 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. When Rolling Stone updated the list in 2012 the album remained ranked at 29th greatest of all time.

Led Zeppelin's front cover, which was chosen by Page, features a black-and-white image of the burning Hindenburg airship. The image refers to the origin of the band's name itself: when Page, Jeff Beck and The Who's Keith Moon and John Entwistle were discussing the idea of forming a group, Moon joked, "It would probably go over like a lead balloon", and Entwistle allegedly replied, "...a lead zeppelin!"

Condition ~ Vinyl :

Both sides of the super clean vinyl have a few light surface scuffs and the odd light non-audible surface hairline. VG++ condition.

Audio Quality :

The sound is stunningly crisp and clear throughout with only the faintest of occasional light background crackle.

Condition ~ Sleeve :

The classic thick card sleeve is in overall great condition with just the faintest of wear. No splits, tears or writing. Contains an orange "Promotional Copy Not For Sale" sticker. EXCELLENT condition.

Condition ~ Labels :

Both white with black text labels are nice and clean and contain the wording "Sample Copy Not For Sale". No more than one or two spindle marks on each side.

Matrix Numbers :

Earliest possible hand etched matrix numbers!!!
