Description
General Information These two 12-inch vinyl LP records present the soundtrack from the feature length film “The Song Remains The Same.” They include recordings culled from a series of three successive concerts performed at Madison Square Garden in 1973 while they were touring for the recent Houses of the Holy release. The high-fidelity stereo sound quality of this release is sure to impress any music lover that savors the music from Led Zeppelin during this time period when they were at the top of the rock world. This outstanding two-record set was produced by Swan Song Inc. and distributed in the USA by Atlantic Recording Corporation in 1976. This 1st pressing is one variant of a large number of variants that were pressed at the Presswell Records Manufacturing Company’s pressing plant located in Ancora, NJ. The catalog number is SS2-201. The two indications on each of the record labels and the indication on each of the runouts are as follows (respectively): Record 1 Side 1 – ST-SS-763683-LY and ST-SS-763683-F (PR); Record 1 Side 2 – ST-763684-LY and ST-SS-763684-G (PR); Record 2 Side 1 – ST-SS-763685-LY and ST-SS-763685F ST-SS-763685-F (PR); and, Record 2 Side 2 – ST-SS-763686-LY and ST-SS-763686-G (PR). The “PR” indicates that the record was pressed at Presswell. This release was mastered by Sterling Sound. Sterling Sound was a renowned audio mastering studio, known for its high standards and quality work. Many audiophiles and collectors consider Sterling-mastered pressings to be superior in sound quality due to the expertise and equipment used at Sterling Sound. The names of the songs for each side can be found in the photos. The album cover is an embossed gatefold with pockets for each of the two records. In addition, the gatefold interior of the album cover includes a presentation of text, song listings, credits, and border illustrations. In addition, the set includes an 8-page booklet with photos from the film and illustrations in the same style as the album cover’s interior gatefold. The booklet is affixed (glued) to the album cover. The photos presented with this listing include a representative sampling of the individual pages. The set includes the original plain black inner sleeves for each record. The album has always been stored in a climate-controlled environment within a smoke-free home and will be shipped through USPS Media Mail.
Condition Details The vinyl is made of durable material and has been graded as Near Mint (NM) (it has very few plays), ensuring that it will play well for years to come. There are no significant visible defects (e.g., only minor scratches and scuffs) and no significant audible defects, i.e., no skips, pops, or ticks. Accordingly, the overall sound quality of the records is excellent. Both records were played immediately prior to creating this listing. In addition, the labels are clean and fully legible with little indication of wear with no scuffs and no spindle wear. The original inner sleeves are fully intact and are graded as NM. There is some factory wrinkling and ring wear. There are no rips or seam tears. Each record will ship with a new clear anti-static polypropylene inner sleeve which is provided as a courtesy. The original gatefold album cover is graded as Very Good Plus (VG+) due to visible ring wear and other visible wear on the outside. There is some wear on the top and bottom edges, the spine, the record pockets, and the corners. The interior gatefold has maintained most of the original glossy sheen with the exception of some barely noticeable ring wear. The accompanying booklet is fully intact and graded as NM with no significant defects. The record will ship with a new clear anti-static polypropylene outer sleeve which is provided as a courtesy.
