Description

Led Zeppelin – IV Extremely rare LIMITED EDITION original Atlantic Record label PURPLE /LILAC vinyl LP

This is an immaculate copy of the only authorised coloured vinyl album released by the band during the late seventies.

This album was debut released on its original label in 1971. It comes in limited edition extremely rare purple vinyl which was re released in 1978

Offered for sale is a copy of the PURPLE (or lavender) vinyl pressing of Led Zeppelin’s untitled fourth album, issued in 1978 in the UK.

Background
Led Zeppelin’s 1971 fourth album was technically untitled, but its most commonly referred to as either Led Zeppelin IV or ZOSO, after the graphics that appear on the label.  Regardless of title, it’s perhaps their best-known album, containing such iconic songs as Black Dog, Rock and Roll, When the Levee Breaks, and, of course, Stairway to Heaven.  The album was a huge seller and continues to sell well to this day.

This album has no scratches and in my opinion is regarded as NEW/immaculate.

There are no issues with this album; neither the sleeve. This has been kept in plastic sleeve during its lifetime. The sleeve is as good as the first day it left the factory. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this album or album sleeve. It is technically called a SIX SLEEVE ALBUM. READ ON FURTHER.

In 1978, it is claimed record companies around the world issued a series of coloured vinyl albums reissuing some of their well-known back catalogue.  In the UK, one of those titles was Led Zeppelin IV, pressed on PURPLE(or lavender, if you prefer) vinyl.  These copies were widely exported to the U.S., and may have actually been made for export only.

In recent years, a number of coloured vinyl pressings of Led Zeppelin albums have turned up for sale; most of these are unauthorised issues, all claiming to be from Spain.   Most of the Led Zeppelin catalogue has been pressed this way, and few collectors know that these pressings are simply the work of individuals who are trying to make some fast money.   This purple vinyl pressing of Led Zeppelin IV is different, however.  This is the only authorised coloured vinyl album that was released anywhere in the world during the time that the band was still recording. Therefore I would welcome serious Led Zeppelin collectors.
