LEE MORGAN “Rumproller” Blue Note RVG, P, BLP 4199 mono Vinyl

This is 1966, “Van Gelder” stamped, first edition, “P” pressing of LEE MORGAN’s “Rumproller” on the "New York USA” labels of Blue Note BLP 4199. Musicians include Lee Morgan – trumpet, Joe Henderson - tenor saxophone, Ronnie Mathews – piano, Victor Sproles – bass, Billy Higgins - drums.

VINYL plays with consistent low-level surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with occasional pops and ticks. But ensemble sections are very clear, dynamic and very strong with clean transients, powerful extension and full tone. NO distortion. NO skips. Good gloss. Many hairline marks, 5 or 6 feelable. (If you can’t feel it, you won’t hear it). This record plays better than it looks.  The “New York USA” labels show aging and spindle marks. Original inner sleeve included. See photos.

COVER is in good shape. Shows normal wear, discoloration (cover is off white, not white), corners worn. Seams and spine very worn, cracking, small split at opening. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC., 43 West 61st St., New York 23” back jacket shows stains, aging, wear. Please see photos.

   

This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON VPI 16.5 VINYL CLEANER.
