Description
This listing is for Lee Morgan’s Search for the New Land BLP 4169 Mono 2nd Press/ 1sr Repress. This copy is on excellent condition. I am not an expert on grading, but this is incredibly clean and shiny and plays great. The sound is very good with little surface noise. This has been in my collection for a number of years and I’ve played it through only 3 times in those years.
This appears to be the 1st mono repress as it features the machined Van Gelder stamp, but no ear in the dead wax. Also, the rights are BMI on the back and the New York address is still featured on the jacket and labels. This is likely after Liberty took over and used the remaining labels. It also features the 27 years of Blue Note sleeve. Also, first press Blue Note albums usually have the “ window” on the jacket front side, and this one does not.
The jacket shows some age, but the ring wear is not bad especially in the black areas where the color is still good. The spine is in good shape. There are no spine or seam splits.
The albums will come in a plastic sleeve outside the jacket and the individual albums will be in sleeves outside the jacket. The last photo shows how it will come (but that is not the album you will receive, just for example purposes).
