LESLIE WEST: MOUNTAIN
A genuine and super rare 1st pressing of Leslie West’s 1st, Pre-Mountain, LP.
“Frequently classified as the first album by the group Mountain, which was named after it, Leslie West's initial solo album featured bass/keyboard player Felix Pappalardi, who also produced it and co-wrote eight of its 11 songs, and drummer N.D. Smart II. Pappalardi had been Cream's producer, and that power trio, as well as the Jimi Hendrix Experience, were the models for this rock set, which was dominated by West's throaty roar of a voice and inventive blues-rock guitar playing. Though West had led the Vagrants for years and cut a handful of singles with them, this was his first album release, and it made for an auspicious debut, instantly establishing him as a guitar hero and setting the style of Mountain's subsequent recordings.”

SLEEVE: VG+
The sleeve is in fantastic condition. There is some light ringwear to the the front and a couple of laminate wrinkles to the front and to the rear flipback. There are no splits or tears and no unsightly rubbing to the unlaminated rear. The spine is straight and true.
RECORD: EX
The record is in superb condition with excellent audio. Under bright light the record shows a one or two very fine hairlines. There are, obviously, no deep or feelable scratches. Similarly, the record is not criss-crossed with light marks, there are genuinely only one or two. The record plays through superbly being that there are no pops or clicks, no crackle and no deterioration or distortion. A rear treat of an LP featuring some truly awesome blues rock in great condition.
The above record grading is based on Record Collector magazine system:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
