This is an ORIGINAL 1953 U.S. PRESS MERCURY / CLEF 10" DEEP GROOVE LP titled 'Lester Young Collates No. 2' from jazz sax legend Lester Young with a stellar combo. Mercury / Clef Records catalog number is MGC-124. Cover artwork was done by David Stone Martin. The cover of this LP states that this is a Mercury Records LP, while the record itself is a Clef Records LP. It appears that a small sticker was originally placed over the word 'Mercury' on the front cover; this sticker has since fallen off exposing the word 'Mercury', my guess is that the sticker probably said 'Clef' to make the cover information consistent with the Clef label record inside. This album was supervised by Norman Granz; he has also written the liner notes on the back cover. Personnel are Lester Young, Gene Ramey, Jo Jones, Buddy Rich, Ray Brown, and John Lewis. Tracks: A Foggy Day, Down 'N' Adam, In A Little Spanish Town, 'Deed I Do, Let's Fall In Love, Thou Swell, Jeepers Creepers. Condition of record is conservatively a low VG+ with a few light surface marks which cannot be felt and do not affect play, and with one small cluster of tiny pinpoint size surface scratches which can be felt and which causes a tick for a few revolutions in one track; record otherwise plays very nicely with a very few very scattered slight ticks and almost no surface noise. Condition of cover is about a mid VG+ with some general overall contact wear and a little wear along the edges and on the corners.
