The Debut album and Single by LEVITATING CHURCHES who were formed early in 2011 in Melbourne, Australia as a live vehicle for the recordings of band leader, singer and guitarist Matt Alien formally of NZ garage rock legends Slavetrader and The Hi-Tone Destroyers.
The band consisting of Dave, Matt, Grant and Shaun gleaned their name from a miss-heard Roky Erickson lyric (learning temples meditating churches – from the song White Faces) and draws inspiration from not only Roky but bands such as Dead Moon, Radio Birdman and Hawkwind to name just a few.
The Album and Single were recorded in Melbourne at a joint called 3 Phase in East Brunswick & Matt’s living room & Mastered by Casey Rice from the U.S band TORTOISE.
Currently The band are working on their 2nd vinyl album which they plan to also release on their own “No Squares Or Hippies” label.
Also they are finishing off recording a track for the American JFK Tribute Comp produced By Turn Me On Dead Man.
They are also getting ready to Fizz Fuzz ‘n’ Fuse Out a Hot Rod / Chopper Fest called Chopped Rod & Custom October 04/05/06/ 2013 Newstead, VIC, Australia
its gonna be a lasting blast over 3 days supporting Aussie legends the HARD-ONS who are head lining, amongst other acts are GRAVEYARD TRAIN, GAY PARIS, THE WALK ON BY, MESA COSA, DEATH VALLEY, THE JADE IDOL, LA BASTARD , SPIRIT VALLEY , CHERRYWOOD , LOS TONES , TWIN BEASTS , MIGHTIEST OF GUNS , PAT CAPOCCI, CHRIS RUSSELL'S CHICKENWALK , NAVAJA NEGRA , BRETT ANDREW, ARCHER AND THE LONG DADDIES.
They are starting to gain Reverence & Reputation with their Raw Raucous Real Rock Reverberation in a new nascent music scene of similar ilk leaking Outta OZ and no doubt gonna give the bloated ‘n’ gloated manufactured music scene over here and round abouts a kick up the A,,A, A, A, Arse!
