Lightnin' Hopkins
Lightnin' And Co. Prestige Records BV1061
The first pressing was on Bluesville 1963.
There is no reference to any pressing on Prestige or Prestige/Bluesville in Goldmine or Rockin' Records. This was issued to a local DJ in Richmond, Virginia for WEET radio in 1961. I have a huge collection of radio station PROMOTION and PREVIEW albums that I obtained from the estate of a local 1950's-1960's DJ. I will continue listing these; most are rare jazz albums.
Condition: Cover is VG+, light wear along the edges; the back is marked PREVIEW COPY and signed by the local DJ. Record is VG+

Sam John Hopkins (March 15, 1912 – January 30, 1982[1]), better known as Lightnin’ Hopkins, was an American country blues singer, songwriter, guitarist and occasional pianist, from Houston, Texas. Rolling Stone magazine included Hopkins at number 71 on their list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time.[2]
Musicologist Robert "Mack" McCormick on Hopkins "is the embodiment of the jazz-and-poetry spirit, representing its ancient form in the single creator whose words and music are one act".[3]
