LIGHTNIN' HOPKINS LP STRUMS THE BLUES (Score Records SLP 4022) Released 1958.

 

   A beautiful & worthy addition to your vinyl collection! Legendary Blues Album from the grandfather of Texas Blues. This museum piece was released in 1958 on the obscure West Coast-based Score records. Our copy came from the original owner, who took very good care of their albums. We will be listing more great blues rarities from this collection shortly. Original US mono pressing on the deep groove maroon label. This copy has great visual appeal. Fairly nice reflective sheen on the grooves inside a beautifully-preserved cover. Great mix of colors. Cut number two is "My California," which I find fitting from a Los Angeles record company such as Score. Pressed on a thick thick (I mean really thick) slab of wax with sturdy, high-quality cover. (Etched matrix: "SCORE-4022 SIDE . 1").

COVER - VERY GOOD PLUS PLUS

  Cover has no seam splits, stains, tape, ink spills, smudges, puncture holes, writing, bubbles or stickers. Hardly any ring wear. Flat cover with no bends, creases, waves or bowing. Small amount of corner banging. A faint degree of speckling. Label looks quite nice: free of stains, marks, scuffs, cuts & writing. Sharp-cut hole with some faint transparent spindle brushings.

  The disc looks pretty good fine with no scratches, skips, streaking or residue on the disc or dead wax. Some faint, brief hairline flecks here and there. The disc still exudes a nice surface sheen. Free of chips, cracks & warping. The thick platter holds its sound better than a cheaper modern pressing.
