LITE STORM 'Warning' LP (Spain, Out-Sider Records, Catalogue #OSR072) Brand new/unplayed copy of limited year 2019 Out-Sider Records edition of RARE 1972 GARAGE/PSYCH ROCK (originally recorded in 1967-1968 and inexplicably first released in obscure quantities in 1972) LP by Los Angeles band Lite Storm.

Out-Sider present the first ever vinyl reissue of Lite Storm's Warning, originally released in 1972. Screaming psychedelic garage from L.A. with fuzzed-out guitars, Vox organ, killer vocals, early Oriental vibes. Formed in California in 1967, Lite Storm was the first incarnation of spiritual seekers Johnima & Kalassu Wintergate (later on Lightstorm, One...) A pioneering psychedelic band, Lite Storm played at all the hip Sunset Strip clubs, were friends with Kali Bahlu and traveled to the Orient and Far East, touring in Vietnam in 1970. Warning was recorded at a four-track studio in 1967-68, first released as a custom tiny pressing before being licensed to the Beverly Hills label for a proper release in 1972. "Released on a small LA label with poor distribution, not many people seem to have heard this album. You may see it described as 'sort' or 'breezy', which is not true. This is a freaky, at times even crazy record, with a lost-in-time sound that adds to its appeal. Lite Storm's edgy hippie-rock has a surface as course and unpolished as the floor of an urban commune crashpad where people used to drop LSD but now shoot amphetamines. The timewarp 1968 sound even displays garage era remnants, like a neat cheesy Vox organ and sharp fuzz leads. If the year hadn't been 1973 I bet the Mainstream label would have signed this quintet right away and sent them on a package tour with Tiffany Shade. Still, Lite Storm's edge is a little sharper than the Mainstream roster, and they cross over into genuine underground freakiness a la Rebecca & The Sunnybrook Farmers. The songs are surprisingly well-written, with nice hooks and obvious talent, but the idiosyncratic male lead vocals dominate the end result. Alternatingly guttural, desperate and macho, the singing reflects a total involvement with the music which keeps you arrested, but may scare inexperienced drug music listeners off (the cover of "Scarlet Ribbons" is insane).
