Description
This is a very good original U.S. pressing copy of the third and final LP by the Litter, released in 1969. From Minneapolis, the group debuted two years before with a blistering garage rock LP, the aptly named Distortions, and followed it up with the more ambitious $100 Fine. Both featured guitarist/arranger Tom "Zippy" Caplan. Caplan and original lead singer/organist Denny Waite departed after the second LP (the former to form the group White Lightning, later just Lightning). The remaining rhythm section added a new lead singer (Mark Gallagher) and lead guitarist (Ray Melina), and moved in a heavy psych direction on their swan song. Gallagher's vocals are an acquired taste, and the long drum solo at the end of the LP's extended closing track, "Future of the Past," is unfortunate, but there's no denying the group's power on tracks like "Journeys," "Feeling," "Blue Ice," and their cover of the Bacharach-David chestnut "My Little Red Book." The gatefold jacket has one main flaw: some tearing and wear along the bottom seams, one of which is taped (see photos). It is otherwise in fine overall condition with a small cutout hole, and light ring, corner, and top seam wear -- overall VG. Visually, the disc has some hairline scratches and scrapes, and light scuffing. Track 3 on side 1 plays with some popping and crackling; the disc otherwise plays with light surface noise, occasional crackling, and a few stray light pops (VG+).
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
If you'd like to order multiple items, I'll happily combine them so that you won't have to pay multiple shipping charges.
