Let Little Feat Boogie Your Speakers Away!
Limited-Edition 2-LP Set Features Unrivaled Sound: Bass Guitar that Will Rattle Your Windows, the Explosive Sound of the Tower of Power Horn Section, Razor-Edged Guitars Through Tube Amps and a Drum Sound as Dynamic as Anything You’ve Ever Heard!
August 1977 Concert Set Among the Best Live Albums Ever Recorded: Lowell George and Little Feat's Magnum Opus. It’s Like Sitting 12 Rows Back, Dead Center, In a Perfect Hall: Tell The Neighbors To Go Out For a Couple of Hours and Crank This One Up!
When you think about great live albums, several immediately come to mind. The Who’s Live at Leeds. James Brown’s Live at the Apollo. The Allman Brothers Band’s Live at Fillmore East. Kiss’ Alive! Nirvana’s Unplugged. And, while it is sometimes unjustifiably forgotten, Little Feat’s Waiting for Columbus. The last essential album the rootsy California band made, it stands as the group’s peak accomplishment - a staggering confluence of energetic performances, skilled improvisations, and thematic expansion.
Joined onstage by the Tower of Power horn section, Little Feat accentuates and remakes familiar arrangements, using the stage as a laboratory for unbridled creativity, New Orleans-spiced fun, and spontaneous interaction. Bursting with enthusiasm and excitement, Waiting for Columbus is truly a live album for the ages—and one of a certain distinctive era.
Amazingly, the set came together under less-than-ideal conditions. In the months leading up to the seven 1977 Washington D.C. and London concerts that were taped for the record, leader Lowell George had removed himself from the band’s affairs. The chemistry was fractured, but the shows functioned as a molding agent. And did Little Feat ever respond. With every member of the sextet playing like their life depended on it, and a guest appearance by ex-Rolling Stone Mick Taylor, this is a must-have set
"The abundance of great music, the culture of drugs, and the politics of Richard Nixon, which had everyone polarized and created more of a sense of community, all contributed to this incredible feeling that somehow we were on a collective journey. Waiting for Columbus is one of the last parts of that journey, and among the last vestiges of that scene." –Little Feat keyboardist Bill Payne, as told to Bud Scoppa

Little Feat Little Feat Numbered Limited Edition GATEFOLD JACKET 180 GRAM AUDIOPHILE LPNumbered, Limited Edition!
Little Feat was discovered and signed to the Warner Brothers label in 1971. Their self-titled debut instantly established Little Feat as a fresh slice of musical Americana. Led by the songwriting and guitar skills of the late, great Lowell George, Little Feat received nearly unanimous critical acclaim. George's song “Willin'” became an instant classic.
Little Feat was steeped in their love of rock, R&B, blues and country with just a pinch of New Orleans spice. After honing their unique blend in clubs and on the road, they were able to capture the magic of their live shows in the studio. The resulting release, tastefully assisted by guests Ry Cooder on bottleneck slide and Sneaky Pete’s pedal steel, was one of the most unpretentious and timeless recording debuts since “Music from Big Pink”. The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin were among Little Feat's loyal fans; giving proof of their musical influence.
Fortified with some very strong songwriting from both lead guitarist Lowell George and keyboardist Bill Payne, such future Feat classics as Willing’, Truck Stop Girl, Snakes on Everything and Crazy Captain Gunboat Willie, plus a medley tribute to the Howlin' Wolf, help rank Little Feat along side Sailin’ Shoes, Dixie Chicken and Waiting for Columbus as one of their greatest albums.
"[At] the Plaza...the attorney general, staying one floor above us, complained about me playing Little Feat records too loud last night...Band-wise, Little Feat is my favorite American group." - Jimmy Page, interviewed by Cameron Crowe (1975).
"...and then I met Lowell George. I heard...'Sailin' Shoes' and went crazy. I got in my truck and drove to California...to work with Lowell. I'd have to say Little Feat was the biggest influence...Musically, they're my favorite band." - Bonnie Raitt

AIN'T HAD ENOUGH FUN - The Little Feat rolls on with a new album and a new addition to the line-up, co-lead vocalist Shaun Murphy (who has added considerable punch to the records and live shows of Bob Seger, John Hiatt, Eric Clapton, Glenn Frey and others). Shaun is the first woman to break into this boys' club, now in its third decade of making blues-billed and funky rock and roll. Cover art by the late Neon Parks continues another Feat tradition.
Here is the fourth (and current) incarnation of the Feat. By dropping Craig Fuller (or by Fuller dropping Feat) the group was able to really stretch out and rock. By moving loud and brassy back-up vocalist Shaun Murphy to the forefront (a move that was not surprising in light of her involvement on the previous album, "Let it Roll") makes the Feat turn into something they haven't been before. It gives them the opportunity to take a broader scope with their songs and gives Paul Barerre and Bill Payne more room for vocal interplay. This album has moments as good as any that the Feat ever had and they seem really comfortable with their role as good time roadhouse rock band. All of the songs are very good (some, like Cajun Rage and the title track, are downright awesome) but Little Feat has less become about its songwriting and more about its sound. And while Murphy sometimes gives the band a dubious hayseed sheen with her carousing Bingo at midnight, drinks at three and divorce in the morning voice, Little Feat still rocks your socks and this album, warts and all, is brilliant

PLUS Little Feat As Time Goes By: The Very Best Of Little Feat LIMITED EDITION LP 1994 Compilation Album Reissued On Vinyl LP! Includes Classics "Dixie Chicken," "Sailin' Shoes" and "All That You Dream!"The group Little Feat was formed in 1969 by Lowell George and keyboardist Bill Payne. The group was disbanded in 1979 due to creative differences shortly before Lowell George's death. Surviving members reformed the group in 1987. The group has undergone several changed in its lineup throughout the years but the music has remained basically the same; a blend of rock & roll, blues, r&b, soul, country, gospel, funk, and jazz fusion.
"As Time Goes By: The Very Best of Little Feat is an extraordinary collection that contains almost every essential Little Feat song from their '70s heyday with Lowell George, plus the two hits ('Let It Roll,' 'Hate to Lose Your Lovin'') from their late-'80s comeback. Most of the band's albums are worth hearing, but this is a great introduction for the curious and -- since it features 'Dixie Chicken,' 'Willin'' 'Two Trains,' 'Fat Man in the Bathtub' 'Sailin' Shoes,' 'Oh Atlanta' and 'All That You Dream' in one place -- it's a great summation of the group's achievements, and George's songwriting talent in particular." - Stephen Thomas Erlewine, allmusic
