This CLEAN VG+/M- 45 plays M-!  It'll sound great on your turntable, jukebox...or put it in The Vault!

Although in the photo above Little Richard looks a bit like Eddie Murphy, that's Jimmy Hendrix (a couple of years before he changed the spelling of his first name) rockin'-out in the backing band.  On this 1965 version of Don Covay's I Don't Know What You've Got (But It's Got Me), Jimmy opens the tune solo; his soulful guitar line leads into Richard's uncharacteristically-restrained vocal.  It's fascinating to hear a future rock legend in a supporting role early in his recording career. 

I Don't Know What You've Got is the only Little Richard VJ 45 that's confirmed to have Jimmy Hendrix (then using stage name "Maurice James") on guitar.  It's possible he plays on the earlier Goodnight Irene single, but he's definitely not on Little Richard's other 3 VJ 45s.
