Description

This early 1956 compilation was an opportunity for Little Walter fans to get a copy of his then recent hits from the US R&B Singles Chart . “My Babe” was written by Willie Dixon and aimed at the emerging white teen market.  This original was recorded where most Chess and Checker sessions were held at Universal Recorders on 25 January 1955.  The company did not build its own studio until late 1956. Little Walter is on vocals/harmonica & supported by his “Jukes”: Robert Lockwood, Jr. and Leonard Caston on guitars, Willie Dixon on double-bass and Fred Below on drums.  This original release was not initially well received in UK with comparatively few copies being sold early on.  So this 1st pressing with gold lettered labels and a tri-centre is arguably the most collectable of Little Walter’s UK-issued records.
