Little Willie John was among the dominant R&B vocalists of the late '50s and early '60s, and one of those best equipped to make the transition to soul. His dramatic style, passionate delivery, and gospel/blues-tinged approach were ideal for the types of anguished, personalized songs that became the hallmark of the soul era. While "Fever" did well for John, it was a huge hit for Peggy Lee. It and everything else on the album was done in magnificent fashion by John. His albums were briefly available again during the early '70s in a Gusto/King reissue line, but have since disappeared again.

· CONDITION:
· RECORD
(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)
(a) CAUTION: The vinyl is in POOR condition and probably more interesting as a conversation piece and historical artifact than as a viable recording suitable for playing. This record may or may not play fine and without skipping, but we did not play it and we do not recommend that the buyer play it either. Please be guided accordingly.
(b) This album is presented here mostly for its historical value and as a very rare item, which can be exceedingly difficult to find in any other condition
(c) The record has a "deep groove" (an indent in the label about 1/2-inch from the edge of the label, which on SOME labels is associated with very early or first pressings).
(d) The record is pressed on a thick, inflexible vinyl
(e) Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
· COVER
THE COVER IS ONLY ABOUT GOOD++ (G++).
The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:
- Cover has a partially split top and bottom seams. These two splits were delicately taped by the previous owner with a piece of transparent scotch tape
- Cover has a visible tape residue (yellowish discoloration from the removed dried and yellowed scotch tape) along all three seams (more pronounced on the back side)
- Cover has some visible ring wear; On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and 10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 4 (front side) and 9 (back side)
- Back cover has circular tarnish (grayish, dust-covered sections, which closely follow the contour of the record), probably caused by friction or by rubbing against other covers during the storage. The tarnish is similar in appearance to a common ring wear, but, UNLIKE ring wear, these grayish areas may be possible to clean up with a minor effort and with a right cleansing solution.
- Cover shows some considerable yellowing on back side, apparently from aging
- Cover has some visible writing on its back side (King albums’ thumbnailed photos circled in black ballpoint pen); name of previous owner written in pencil in one corner.
- Back cover has some light yellowish stains, probably from exposure to humidity.
- The cover has a few tiny scratch marks on the back side
- Cover has a few visible wrinkles along the spine
- Cover has some visible fraying/tattering on all three seams, notably on the spine
NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:
- No cut-out (drill) holes.
- No cut-out corners
- No saw-marks or indents
- No stamps
- No peel-off marks
- No mold or mildew spots
- No stickers or labels
- No water damage
- No warping
- No bar codes
- No RIAA stamps or stickers.
