Red Motorbike returns with a delicious dish of modern boogie from Berlin producer LJ Simon. He delivers 'Givin' Up', a groove steeped in aged analogue tones and classic funk sensibilities. Vintage synths glide over a relaxed rhythm section for a smooth backdrop for Denice Brooks, whose seasoned voice has a real authority but also great ease that gives the track its emotional centre. On the flip, label head and Canadian go-slow specialists Eddie C reshapes the cut with his 'Disko Mix', stripping things back into a dusty street soul workout aimed squarely at late-night selectors and patient dancefloors. A top nod to 80s funk with fresh polish.
