♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫

One of the most coveted works by one of the pioneers of Blues, Boogie and R&B. Near mint copies of this album issued on SCORE label (Aladdin subsidiary) routinely change hands for $400.00 or more. And, mind you, the copy we have is as about MINT as you are ever likely to find : it is NEAR-PERFECT!!!. This is the root of all Rock and Roll.

One important note about Score records in general, and this pressing in particular: in 1957 Aladdin, Intro and Jazz West labels were integrated into the new, combined entity called Score records.

Some web sites (bsnpubs.com) claim – erroneously – that Score label was Aladdin/Jazz West/Intro’s BUDGET subsidiary. This is NOT, repeat, NOT correct. Score was, in fact, a full-priced, full-product line SUCCESSOR (not subsidiary or affiliate) of these three labels, in the same vein Verve labels was a successor of Clef and Norgran labels. Aladdin, Jazz West and Intro did, in fact, have a budget subsidiary, but it was Hollywood label, NOT Score.

CONDITION:

RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)            WE GRADE THE VINYL AS NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs - are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible, and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)            The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)             Stereo copies of this album are NOT known to exist.

(d)            Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       COVER

THE COVER IS ABOUT VERY GOOD+(+)

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         A visible water stain affects the area about 1. ½ inch wide along the bottom seam (more pronounced on the back panel); there is no structural damage to the cover, and both cardboard base and paper slick are intact, however, the stain is visible and has caused some erosion in the firmness of the cover , visible yellowish discoloration, a few microscopic peel-off marks and a slight warp in the affected area.

-         Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and 10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 3 (front side) and 4 (back side)

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on back side, apparently from aging.

-         Cover has two corners slightly worn / frayed / bent (nothing significant)

-         Back cover has circular tarnish (grayish, dust-covered sections, which closely follow the contour of the record), probably caused by friction or by rubbing against other covers during the storage. The tarnish is similar in appearance to a common ring wear, but, UNLIKE ring wear, these grayish areas may be possible to clean up with a minor effort and with a right cleansing solution.

-         Cover has a small quality control (inspection) stamp on the back panel

-         Minor shelf wear noted on the seams (nothing significant)

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-         No split seams (yet)

-         No cut-out (drill) holes.

-         No cut-out corners

-         No saw-marks or indents

-         No writing

-         No mold or mildew spots

-         No stickers or labels

-         No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or cuts.

-         No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-         No glue traces or wax residue.

-         No bar codes

-         No RIAA stamps or stickers.
