Description

BBC Transcription Service 2 LP set featuring the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Lawrence Leonard performing "Horace Victorieux" (composed by Arthur Honeggar) and Symphony No. 5, Op. 50 (composed by Carl Nielsen) on BBC Transcription Service BBC Concert Hall #52 (matrix #93732, 93733 & 93734), which has an expiration date of September 30, 1960 for broadcast.  There's several COOL points about this 2 LP set of transcription discs, including the absolutely gorgeous pressing/etching of the British Broadcasting Corporation Transcription Service logo on the blank 4th side, the 3-page, single-sided BBC Transcription Service Continuity Sheet (cue sheet), and both LP's come in the original BBC Programme manilla sleeves, which feature a plastic inner lining that helps protect the vinyl from sleeve marking from standard paper sleeves.  I've noted that this 2 LP set is dated 1960 in light of the expiration date noted on the labels, but the 3rd page of the cue sheet has the notation "to be used, Thurs. March 26/59 9 - 10 PM", as well as a checkmarked date of "Tues Oct 31/61", so it's possible that this 2 LP set was actually released in 1959, but I can't say with any certainty.

The turquoise/yellow/white labeled vinyl are in very good plus - excellent condition with a few whispy scratches.  There's no official cover, but the protective inner sleeves are in very good with 4 penned notations (2 per sleeve) and a torn flap at the center hole of one of them.  The 3-page BBC Transcription Service cue sheet is in overall poor - good condition showing some aging, corner bends, light creases, handling marks, tears/missing pieces to pages 2 & 3, the 2nd page having been torn loose from the stapling at the top left, and multiple pen and pencil notations to the 3rd page.  This is a RARE & COOL LPO/classical collectible, make sure you bid on this one today!!!
