Eduardo “Lalo” Torres Garcia, Salvador Torres Garcia Salvador “Pavo” Garcia, a pioneering conjunto musician in the mid-1940s with his older brothers in Los Hermanitos Garcia Torres and, later with his own conjunto, Los Pavos Reales, has died. He was 80.Garcia, a button accordionist, is counted among the greatest of the conjunto composers with such hits as “Todos Dicen” (later covered by the Latin Breed), “El Borrachito,” “Yo y Mi Botella” and the signature polka “Acordeones de Oro.” He wrote hundreds of songs, dozens that became hits for others, including Joe Bravo and Los Dos Gilbertos. He and his brother, Eddie “Lalo” Torres Garcia popularized the use of dual, harmonizing accordions onstage and on recordings with their legendary conjunto, Los Pavos Reales. They were a favorite at the Tejano Conjunto Festival at Rosedale Park, which they first played in 1983. They last performed at the event in 2013. Eddie Lalo Torres is still very active and popular here in San Antonio and everywhere else. He has his own Grupo conjunto---Eddie Lalo Torres y su Conjunto and has recorded many albums.
