Description
LOU MECCA QUARTET released on BLUE NOTE RECORDS (5067) in 1955 is a 10" EP Microgroove 1st Pressing of the Jazz Guitarist's debut album and a rare Jazz album in any decent condition. See back cover (Scan 2) for 6 songtitles/condition and Scan 3 for lab.
The RECORD is in VERY GOOD PLUS condition and appears to have been played moderately though it's hard to tell judging by visible spindle marks on the white labels - with Side 1 showing 4 or 5 light surface marks which don't seem to effect the sound, and which on playing has some loud static on the 1st Song for the 1st 10 seconds before dying down and leaving a solid VG+ play with medium light surface noise but no loud ticks or static. Side 2, while having only a few light scratches, has two substantial rough areas parallel to the grooves on Song 1 & 2, which leave loud static at those points during those 2 songs. It might have been a pressing flaw, and it settles down after the middle of that 2nd song and gives a little weaker VG+ play through the end of the side. But on the whole, Side 2 is closer to a VG play.
The laminated (front) COVER is in VERY GOOD PLUS condition, with all seams clean and fully intact, corners generally sharp w/ light wear bottom right, and light wear on the front and back, with the main wear being the red smear on the front as seen in scan. There is an small E+ written in pencil on the back (could be erased)which is relatively clean.
