Description
Louis Armstrong's Hot Five and Hot Seven recordings made in the mid 1920's and issued on the Okeh label form one of the most important and influential group of recordings in jazz history. The original Okeh's in nice condition can command high prices. Offered here are eight of those recordings issued on Columbia records in the 1940's. All but one (Heebie Jeebies) are original master pressings. More importantly, two of the 8 sides (as noted) were never originally issued on Okeh but were discovered in the process of compiling these re-issues and are, therefore, the original issues of these Armstrong recordings. The titles are: (1) Heebie Jeebies/Potato Head Blues [one of the most famous Hot Seven sides], Co. 35660 (2) S. O. L. Blues (previously unissued)/Squeeze Me, Co. 35661 (3) Save It Pretty Mama/No One Else But You, Co. 35662 (4) Twelfth St. Rag (original issue)/Knockin' a Jug, Co. 35663. Condition throughout is E with perhaps a couple of sides leaning to E- ; clean, smooth surfaces. Shipping will be $5.00 in U.S., foreign shipping to be determined at closing.
