Description
Louis Armstrong and his Hot Five
Georgia Grind
Come back Sweet Papa
Okek 8318
Performances
Georgia Grind is the designated A side, and most agreeable it is, but Come Back Sweet Papa finds Dodds doubling on alto and altogether one of the best and most interesting Hot Five recordings.
Rarity
It’s the small red label.
Condition
E, plays EE+/E+.
Condition grading I use the internationally recognised system, as laid out below. My grading is scrupulous. I guarantee down to V+. Grades thereafter being somewhat open to debate.
- (E+) plays like new with few signs of aging, no noticeable scratches or other marks. Glossy surface, not dull
- (E) still very shiny, with no visible signs of groove wear (such as greying) but with possibly a few very minor scuffs and very light (inaudible) scratches
- (E-) still shiny but without the lustre of a new record. Possible light wear (but no audible distortion), light scratches and scuffs
- (V+) Surface is not shiny, and there may be greying of the grooves caused by needle wear, as well as scratches and scuffs, but playing is generally free of distortion. Some of the scratches may be deep enough to be audible but they will not allow the stylus to skip or jump
- (V) Record is worn and has scratches, possible "digs", and greying of the grooves. Generally, the record will distort on playing and the scratches and other damage will be audible
If this is your kind of music, why not request a copy of my latest auction list of Jazz, Blues and Dance 78s. These are mainly really good and you don't want to miss out. The auction closes on Wednesday 1 February, so you have plenty of time to mull over over the records on offer. Email me at johnmuironly@hotmail.com or click on "Ask Seller A Question".
