A veritable greatest-hits album, this is the gem of Louis Prima’s catalogue. None of his other efforts transcend its raunchy mix of demented gibberish, blaring sax, and explosive swing, which rocked as hard as anything released at the time. Almost all of Prima's signature songs are found here: Just a Gigolo / I Ain't Got Nobody, Oh Marie, Jump Jive an' Wail, and Buona Sera, to name a few. Prima, Keely Smith, and Sam Butera & The Witnesses were THE act to see in Las Vegas in the mid-50s to early ‘60s. On April 19, 1956 the band gathered at the casino lounge to record tracks for this album. Capitol Records attempted to retain Prima's "in person" performance and spirit to capture what he referred to as "three o'clock in the morning at the Sahara" with the group.

Notes: Light surface noise. A good, thorough cleaning is all this one needs. No warping.
LABEL GRADE: VG+
Notes: No ring wear, tape, spindle wear, or writing. Standard white Capitol logo in blue oval at left of spindle hole on black. Rainbow circle around label on outside. Text is silver on black.
SLEEVE GRADE: F
Notes: Original plain white paper. No marks, no tape, no writing, no splits. Major aging and yellowing, especially at the ragged top open edge. One side has an ad from Capitol Records, “…a word about High Fidelity” (black text on white). Other side has instructions on how to insert a vinyl record into a paper sleeve (like this one) (black text, logo, and image on white). Two-inch split at center of bottom edge. Two-and-one-half-inch split at center of left edge.
JACKET GRADE: W
Notes: Visible ring wear. Inch-square white tape ding just above white “featuring” text. No marks, no stains, no tape. A few crinkles, noticeable age spots on back cover. Edges, spine (barely readable), corners are substantially worn. Inch-long signature in blue marker ink at upper left back corner (nothing obscured). Five-and-a-half-inch split beginning at top right corner and heading back toward center. Bottom edge is split all the way across. (See my original scan.) This cover is in poor shape.

Note: I haven't cleaned this 65-year-old vinyl record because everybody seems to prefer their own methods. I'll leave the cleaning up to the buyer. Also, I'm not a professional vinyl seller or buyer. This comes from my own collection.
