THIS LP IS MORE SPECIAL THAN OTHERS AS IT IS ONE OF THE EARLIEST 1st MONO UK PRESSINGS AVAILABLE.
First is the 11 66 in the matrix (this is not a stamper) but indicates that the vinyl is one of the early presses released in November (11) 1966 (66) in MONO. This 1st Pressings used American sleeves (STEREO in this case). These VERY EARLY 1ST PRESSINGS have the Elektra ORANGE 1st press label on the vinyl and NO POLYDOR on the label. All these indicating that it is one of the rarest VERY EARLY MONO pressings which rarelly come to sell as they are normally in Stereo.
The second album from Love which made a brief entry into the US top 100 albums peaking at #80 and released in the UK January 1967 where, despite being a diverse and ground breaking offering, it failed to chart. Consequently it is rare worldwide and particularly RARE AS A UK FIRST MONO PRESSING, FIRST ISSUE; but, the rarity in this case is much greater and more significant. At the time this album was released Elektra was in the process of making an arrangement with Polydor for UK pressing and distribution of their records, this was settled in 1967 and most albums from that time were released with the Elektra label, but with a ‘Polydor Record’ credit on the bottom perimeter of the label. However, the earliest firsts’ and transitional pressings from this era carried labels with ONLY THE ELEKTRA CREDITS – this only happened for a very short time and these VARIANTS ARE THE EARLIEST AND RAREST. Other notable examples of this from the era are the first Incredible String Band and Doors albums.
In this case you can add to the rarity the fact that this UK FIRST PRESSING in MONO has the Original American printed cover which was only used on relatively few of the very first issued. At this time the earliest first made and issued UK Elektra vinyls were MADE IN ENGLAND but distributed in American made covers. These cover were shipped over before the release date to accompany the earliest pressings until the record company could determine whether there was ‘follow through’ demand for these ‘niche market’ albums and decide if was worth placing an order for UK covers for later pressings or re-issues - so the UK made vinyls housed in American covers are, in these cases, a clear indication that they are the EARLIEST FIRST PRESSINGS. Furthermore the vinyl ‘run off’ are on both sides is hand etched ‘11-66’ indicating that this was pressed just before the FIRST UK RELEASE date in January ’67. Everything about this album is exciting, genuine, first and original, even through to the inner sleeve. I SERIOUSLY DOUBT WHETHER THERE WILL EVER BE ANOTHER CHANCE TO BUY THIS BRILLIANT, HIGHLY COLLECTABLE ALBUM IN SUCH AN EARLY FIRST VARIANT . THIS IS A TRULY GREAT ALBUM IN EVERY WAY AND AN EXTRAORDINARILY RARE BUYING OPPORTUNITY.
The record is pressed on thick quality vinyl and is in very good condition, it is the genuine article and in MONO! This is how you'd have heard it on pirate radio back in the 60's and with a different mono mix. Not many people had stereo in those days. It definitely has a different sound...not better, not worse...just different!.
The RARE ROUGH UK ELEKTRA ORANGE labels are in clean and excellent condition.
The thick heavy cardboard sleeve is in excellent condition with some creases (none of the common ring wear in this record) has a shop mono sticker and price sticker in the front on a stereo sleeve and the word stero crossed in the back sleeve.
The spine is complete and fully readable in EXCELLENT condition with some edge wear.
DON’T MISS THE CHANCE OF OWNING A RARE PIECE OF ROCK HISTORY!
