This first pressing on the orange Elektra label plays to a wonderful standard with only a little interference on the first track.  Apart from that you really cannot the audio and it is obvious it has hardly been played.  The vinyl is very clean and there is barely any spindle wear and the clarity, depth and power of the audio is very impressive.

The MacNeill cover is in excellent condition with only minimal shelf wear and the original inner has also been very well looked after over the last 50+ years.

Visual grading

The vinyl is in superb condition with an immaculate glossy sheen and there are no scratches.  There are a small number of 'specks' over one small area on 'August' and this causes a little interference as detailed below.  Aside from that the vinyl is close to perfect with only a couple of small faint hairlines.  The orange Elektra labels are super clean with no marking or writing and just the one faint spindle trace on S2.

Play grading

The intro on 'August' is faultless and 'as new' is no exaggeration.  Lee's opening vocal is close to perfect with only a couple of very light ticks and the following instrumental section has a few more but again they are very light and hardly intrusive.  The next vocal again has some light ticks but they soon disappear and the second half of the track plays with stunning quality and no interference.  Lee's work here is of course so strong and it closes the track with immense power and depth.  A one minute section during the first half is Ex- but the remainder is Mint- for sure.

'Your Friend And Mine - Neil's Song' plays with superb audio from the word go and to the end it plays with no interference of any kind.  Great clarity and depth this is a very strong Mint- track.

The quiet intro on 'I'm With You' has no 'background' and continues in the same precise way with no intrusion apart from a couple of mega light ticks at the end.  Mint-

'Good Times' plays very clearly from the outset and this clarity is very much in evidence throughout.  A handful of very light ticks in the 'silent' section near the halfway mark and perhaps just a hint of distortion on the repeated Good Times vocal but the guitar solo then ends the track perfectly.  A very impressive Near Mint version.

The intro on 'Singing Cowboy' plays with exceptional clarity and depth and the opening vocal is just as good.  It proceeds in the same way with no hardly any inner groove distortion.  It plays with tremendous power and especially on the end section.  The audio has such depth and there really is a very strong bass sound.  A superb fade out and another Near Mint track.

'Dream' on S2 has only a couple of mega light ticks on the intro and then plays with superb audio from then onwards.  There is no sign of any interference.  Couple of light ticks at the end of the fade out also.  A Mint- start to the side.

'Robert Montgomery' again plays with very strong audio and no interference.  The sound quality is perhaps not as 'clean' here but I am sure that is just how it was recorded/produced.  Near Mint is an honest assessment of the audio here.

No such issue with the 'Nothing' playing with stunning clarity from the very first note.  It continues to impress and the sonic quality is stunning throughout.  No interference just pure Mint audio from beginning to end.  A stunning version.

'Talking In My Sleep' plays to the same 'high end' standard with no intrusion.  Perhaps a slightly more 'raw' track than the previous one but Mint- is still deserved.

The quiet intro on 'Always See Your Face' plays perfectly and Lee's first vocal is just as impressive.  For a final track it plays so clearly and...again there is no interference.  Perhaps just a minimal amount of inner groove distortion towards the end but easily a Near Mint finish to the album.

In summary this first pressing plays to a very high standard with only minimal interference on the first track.  Aside from that the clarity, depth and power of the audio is very impressive and with hardly any inner groove distortion it is clear this record has hardly been played over the last 52+ years.  A fine example.

The Cover & Inner Sleeve

The cover is in excellent condition and has been very well preserved down the years.  Only the bottom edge has some obvious rubbing and the spine is still very clean with only minor marking and minimal wear on the corners.  The right hand corners again have only light wear and the opening edge is as close to perfect as is possible.  The front cover has no marking at all and the back cover is almost as good with only 3/4 small 'spots' next to the spine and the original 39/11 price sticker top left.  An excellent example overall.

The original die-cut paper inner is in great condition with no splits just some light age related fading and minor creasing.
