RARE ONE OF A KIND PRIVATE RECORD WITH A SIGNED PHOTOGRAPH OF OPERATIC SOPRANO ROSA PONSELLE!!
The plain black jacket has an 8" by 10" glossy photograph affixed, of Rosa Ponselle, on which she inked in blue "To the Hawkin's Je t'aime Rosa Ponselle". The autograph has not been authenticated but is consistent with others that can be found online. There are no markings on the jacket itself - black on front and back only.
The LP was found in a plain white inner sleeve. There are a few very light unfeelable scratches over clean vinyl, LOOKS QUITE PLAYABLE and I'll give it a grade of VG++. There is no record label producer, just the catalog number EJS-219 and the identifier on the bottom, Private Record Not for Sale. The top of the labels has the banner, The Golden Age of Opera. It was for a February 1, 1936 performance of Carmen, and this LP has "Excerpts". There is a very similar record on discogs - same label, same top banner - with the title, "Georges Bizet, Greta Stuckgold, Wilfred Pelletier – Carmen". Also, there is an LP on discogs by Historical Recording Enterprises which appears to have the same cast and performance year of Carmen - the LP has the title, "Bizet*, Rosa Ponselle, René Maison, Ezio Pinza, Hilda Burke, Louis Hasselmans – Carmen (1936 Live Performance)".
Found in the jacket was a 1967 Baltimore newspaper article on Rosa Ponselle. I would guess the date of this LP is about mid-1960s.
