GRADING:

1. SS (still sealed)
          * die schallplatte ist neu und noch verschweißt.
 

   2. M (mint)
          * dieses vinyl ist neu & ungespielt.
Perfect in every way. Never been played, possibly even still sealed.
          * das cover sollte keinerlei gebrauchsspuren aufweisen.
Perfect in every way.

         
   3. NM (near mint)
          * dieses vinyl wurde bereits gespielt, weist aber keinerlei (oder nur sehr geringfügige) gebrauchspuren auf.
A nearly perfect record. The record should show no obvious signs of wear. 
          * das cover und das label sind in hervoragendem zustand.
          * beide wurden weder beschrieben oder beklebt.
A nearly perfect jacket. It should show no obvious signs of wear.The cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits or other noticeable similar defects.Definitely no cut-out holes.

   4. VG+ (very good+)
          * die schallplatte ist häufiger abgespielt worden
          * kleine kratzer bzw. leichtes rauschen können vorkommen.
This will show some signs that it was played and handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. The vinyl surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't greatly affect one's listening experiences.
          * das cover kann kleine einrisse oder abnutzungen haben, ist aber in gutem zustand.
Jacket will have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. Possible a well-repaired seam split that is no longer highly noticeable. The jacket may have light signs of ring wear, or may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount.

   5. VG / EX (very good / excellent)
          * dieses vinyl wurde häufig gespielt.
          * kleine kratzer, leichtes rauschen sind gegeben.
Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced for this grade. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in quiet passages or during a song's intro and fade, they will not overpower the music otherwise. 
          * das cover ist in ordentlichem zustand, weist aber abnutzungserscheinungen auf.
The jacket can have any of the defects listed in VG+. It may have a little larger seam splits then the VG+ jacket could have. The jacket may also be marred by writing, or have tape, stickers, or their residue attached. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, only two or three of them.

   6. VG- (very good-)
          * dieses vinyl wurde häufiger gespielt, hat kratzer
The defects you find in a EX record are more pronounced for this grade.
          * das cover ist eingerissen oder beschriftet, das label ggf. ebenfalls beschriftet.
The defects at the jacket are a little bit more than in EX.

   7. G (good)
          
          * es können größere kratzer vorkommen.
Good does not mean Bad! A record in Good condition can be put onto a turntable and should play through without skipping. It will have significant surface noise, scratches and visible groove wear. Labels will have wear.
          * das cover ist stark beschädigt - label und cover sind ggf. beschriftet.
The jacket will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects

   8. F (fair) / P (poor)
          * die schallplatte ist gerade noch abspielbar, allerdings ist die qualität stark verschlechtert.
          * stärkere kratzer, abgenutzes label, sehr stark beschädigt oder zerrissenes cover zeichnen vinyls dieser art aus.
The jacket can be water damaged, split on all three seams, heavily marred by wear and writing. The LP cover barely keeps the LP inside it. Inner sleeves (if original) are fully seam split, crinkled, and written upon.
