Tom Lehrer was an American who made a huge name for himself on the weekly TV Show 'That Was the Week That Was', Hosted by David Frost. It included several British comedians and writers . . . and Tom.
His enjoyment of the English Language, and fun with it's nuances saw him 'promoted' from American to English in some folks' eyes. Mine included. And should anybody be insulted (why?!), then perhaps don't buy the record. For no offence whatever is intended.
