This record -set has been cleaned and played through completely both sides on a Thorens Turntable as well as visually inspected under a bright halogen desk lamp to provide an accurate grading.

CONDITION

All 4 sides here have been played through twice and the only blemishes detected were as follows ….(please note that the order of playing the sides in sequence differs from the norm in that the correct order here is 1/3/2 then 4 if you follow) :
Side One (1st song is ‘Overture’) – a couple of very light marks only …no pops or skips and a superb clean sound
Side Two (1st song is ‘Miracle Cure’) – a couple of more marks that are more accentuated than on Side One however again no pops or skips and no problems listening-wise at all
Side Three (1st song is ‘Do You Think It's Alright?’) – clean as a whistle and no marks whatsoever … brilliant crisp and clear sound
Side Four (1st song is ‘Christmas’) – a visual scuff across the second song ‘Cousin Kevin’ and partially into the ‘Acid Queen’ which results in a few light pops only, certainly no skips and plays better than it looks indicating that it is only a surface mark as it does not effect the tracking …

Overall a very tidy set of vinyl and certainly worth an EX easily though upon a second listen I was impressed enough to give it an EX+ …it really is a pleasure to hear the acoustics on this album.

Final thoughts ?? … a real gem and heaps better than most one comes across which is not that many these days as you might well know.

TRI -FOLD SLEEVE : fantastic / no writing or splits and the spine is intact / just a hint of ring-wear on the back only and a little edge-wear to the corners though only minor / easily the best sleeve I’ve ever come across for this issue which is normally quite susceptible to damage / very impressive and certain to please

DESCRIPTION

The definitive rock opera, TOMMY liberated the Who from a "singles band" stigma, marking them as a substantial artistic force. Composer Pete Townshend had flirted with the conceptual format on two previous releases, but here his vision is spread over two ambitious records that play to the Who's main strengths. Anthems such as the raucous "Pinball Wizard" and the surprisingly serene "I'm Free" emphasize the kinetic power of the band, while Townshend's cast of characters (the perverted Uncle Ernie, the inscrutable Tommy) reveals a wild and unconventional imagination. Townshend even incorporates Sonny Boy Williamson's "Eyesight to the Blind" as part of his fable about the "deaf, dumb, and blind kid," making a successful reference to the past in what is an undeniably groundbreaking and forward-looking achievement.

A terrific listen from go to whoa that rocked the world …and still does some 40 years on and a seriously collectable item these days.
