The vinyl looks very good. I listened using a Michell Gyrodec, Origin Live Rega RB250 and Shure V15Vxmr all very carefully maintained. I use ribbon tweeters and the system quickly reveals any problems. There is a little surface noise in places, but it is intermittent and I would classify it as low and background. I know that this will vary between stereo systems and that my own system does tend to emphasise hiss and noise. There are some very faint marks on sides 2 and 4, but I played through these without hearing them.
There is a small sounding mark on Regnava nel silenzio in the last 2 minutes of side 1. It is barely visible and produces some quiet clicks. It does not repeat more than 6 times, but it does come and go. I have placed a .MP3 file of this passage on my website www.boplicity.co.uk so you can judge for yourself.
The short extract is intended to be for demonstration purposes only so prospective bidders can judge the condition of the vinyl. It will be deleted as soon as the auction is over.
Sleeves
The unlaminated backs are a little faded and have a few marks. They look worse in the photo than in reality. On the back of disk 1 is a price label from the 1960s in the old British system of shillings and pence, which was changed in 1971.
The openings of the covers show very little wear, and the sleeve of disk 1 has a tiny (2mm) split starting at the bottom of the opening. Otherwise the edges are in excellent condition.
The fronts are superb, with that beautiful photo looking clean, crisp and unfaded.
The inner sleeves look like 1960s best grade, but they do not have the Columbia design or logo from that period.
