TCHAIKOVSKY
CAPRICCIO ITALIEN OP. 45
THEME AND VARIATIONS FROM SUITE No. 3 IN G
CARL SCHURICHT conducts
L'ORCHESTRA de la SOCIETE DES CONCERTS du CONSERVATOIRE de PARIS
Unbelievably rare UK first pressing on the Gold/Orange Decca recording label. The catalogue number is LXT 2761. This record was released in 1953.
This recording was made between 16-20th June 1952 at La Maison de la Mutualite in Paris
It comes with first press matrix numbers CC ARL 1311-1B & CA ARL 1312 -2B with stampers U at 3 o'clock on side one and stampers CC at 3 o'clock on side two. The TAX CODE "RT" is etched into thr run-off
The sleeve, one of those early flimsy ones from the early fifties is in Excellent+ condition . There are no tears no writing and no creases and only the very faintest of ringwear. Absolutely nothing serious. The rear of the sleeve again has no writing and no tears though again slight signs of ringwear. Nearly all these early Decca sleeves show this because Decca in their wisdom issued the discs WITHOUT protective inners (strange but true) with the consequence that the record lay directly against the sleeve.
The labels are crisp and sharp and retain their vibrant colours. I cannot see any spindle marks on either of the labels.
The record plays as EX+ with beautiful clarity & depth of sound quality that belies its 57 years of age. No nasty tics or pops. No nasty hiss or crackle that so often occurs on these old records. If i am fussy there are a couple of the lightest crackles but ABSOLUTELY NOTHING SERIOUS
DO NOT MISS THIS ONE</>
THIS RECORD IS GRADED VISUALLY AND AURALLY.
