Description
LXT 2810 – FERRAS / BARBIZET – FAURE / DEBUSSY: VIOLIN SONATAS
This is one of those truly "hard to find" recordings and there is no stereo version. Original Decca mono recording catalogue number LXT 2810 on orange/gold label. Christian Ferras (violin) and Pierre Barbizet (piano) playing Sonata No.2 in E minor for violin & piano Op.108 by Faure, and Sonata in G minor for violin & piano by Debussy.
Overall the disc is clean and shiny (it has been professionally cleaned) but there are many light surface marks. The sound quality throughout is fantastic but there are some audible defects. On the Faure, Track 1 has about 35 ticks (only 10 of these are intrusive and the rest barely noticeable); Track 2 has 1 loud tick and 9 very faint ones. On the Debussy there are 10 very faint ticks. Definitely not a perfect copy but the overall listening quality is still a delight. The thin card sleeve has tiny tears on spine plus creasing (particularly on left-hand side) and record impress.
