CONDITION

Every record that I offer for auction on EBAY has been fully and attentively test played, just prior to being listed, using my Project turntable with Ortofon cartridge - I have learnt from past experience that it is impossible to grade vinyl records solely by a visual inspection.

Therefore, when you purchase vinyl records from me you will not experience any unpleasant surprises during playback, as a full description of the item and its condition follows. However, please be aware before continuing that this is an extremely rare and ancient original mono LP recording, now aged about 55 years.

The vinyl has a good sheen and the surfaces are clean. There are no spindle trails on the labels. There is a non-sounding mark on each side; both are of about three centimetres.

The sound is clean and bright with remarkably silent surfaces throughout EXCEPT where mentioned below:-

Side 1 (Good)
Intermittent light background crackle occurs during:
. the first 90 seconds of the side.
. the final 10 seconds of the first movement.
. the final 60 seconds of the side.

There are 3 consecutive ticks after about 4 minutes, and 4 or 5 separate isolated ticks on this side.

Side 2 (Excellent)
Intermittent very light background crackle occurs during:
. the first 60 seconds of the side.

There are also 5 or 6 separate isolated ticks on this side.
________________________

I found that the light background crackle was not too intrusive and did not really detract; this unfortunately is often the norm on these ancient mono records. However it is possible that further playing and/or cleaning would help.

Outer Sleeve (Good)
As you would expect, an outer sleeve of 55 years does show some signs of its age. Although there is no damage, there is some ring wear, some storage wear on the edges and slight age discolouration on the rear. I have attached some scans of the sleeve (two per side).

PACKAGING & DISPATCH

The record will be supplied inside a Japanese anti-static inner sleeve and a transparent protective cover will be provided for the outer sleeve.

The record will be packed separately from its outer sleeve in order to prevent splitting in transit.

The record will be enclosed in a purpose-made record mailer reinforced with stiffeners which will then be covered with a substantial amount of bubble wrap and then enclosed in a rigid and robust outer box which is 65 mm deep. All of this reduces the risk of damage in transit to an absolute minimum.

It is my policy to use only those Royal Mail Services which require a signature upon delivery, and in addition provide for compensation should this be required in the event of loss or damage during transit.

Postage costs will be combined for multiple purchases where appropriate.
