SUCH A DEAL ! ATTENTION: THIS IS MY LAST SET. THANK YOU EVERYBODY. LYNYRD SKYNYRD. 6 LP BOX SET… BRAND SPANKIN’ NEW and SEALED. Lynyrd Skynyrd was the definitive Southern rock band, fusing the overdriven power of blues-rock with a rebellious Southern image and a hard rock swagger. They were a hard-living, hard-driving rock & roll band and though they may have jammed endlessly on-stage, their music remained firmly entrenched in blues, rock, and country. The band rose to worldwide recognition on the basis of its driving live performances and signature tunes 'Sweet Home Alabama' and 'Free Bird'. However, at the peak of their success, three members died in an airplane crash in 1977, putting an abrupt end to the band's most popular incarnation. The 6LP box set pulls together the studio and live albums originally released before the accident. These 6 LPs released between 1973 and 1977 include an exact reproductions of the original artwork to retain authenticity, are pressed on 180 gram heavyweight audiophile vinyl, and are all contained within a rigid slipcase box. I WILL MAIL IT TO YOU WITH TENDER LOVING CARE, INCLUDING USPS TRACKING. I WILL EVEN INSURE IT FOR LOSS AND DAMAGE, WHILE IN THE HANDS OF THE USPS, FOR THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE AMOUNT. WHO ELSE DOES THAT ? International Buyers – Please Note: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying.
(PRONOUNCED LEH-NERD SKIN-NERD)
Whether it’s the them’s-fightin’-words edginess of the humorous Southern-etched yarn “Gimme Three Steps,” or the spiritual pleas and lived-in wisdom echoed on the barbed-wire balladry of “Simple Man,” Lynyrd Skynyrd's powerhouse 1973 debut Pronounced Leh-nerd Skin-nerd burns with forthright and freewheeling desire, rebellious and sincere earnestness. Then, of course, there’s the sugary drip of Ronnie Van Zant’s political ragtime-referencing affair “Things Goin’ On,” bluegrass-tinted swing of “Mississippi Kid,” and swampy get-go of “Poison Whiskey.” They all lead up to the epic “Free Bird,” a greasy slide-guitar anthem that no matter how many times it’s played or requested, never loses its power to grip the listener’s emotions like an iron vice. Seen from either a lyrical, musical, or performance perspective, there’s not a wasted second or superfluous moment on (Pronounced Leh-nerd Skin-nerd) to be found. Voted one of Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time – Rated 401/500!
SECOND HELPING
1974's Second Helping is a tighter, more professional helping of the signature Southern rock powerhouse style that Lynyrd Skynyrd pioneered on their acclaimed debut Pronounced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd and it stands as the band's finest hour. An extraordinary record built around the fervent first-person storytelling of Ronnie Van Zant, an unparalleled three-guitar attack and flattering production from band founder Al Kooper, Second Helping is anchored by the all-time classic anthem "Sweet Home Alabama," not to mention further catalog gems like "Don't Ask Me No Questions," "The Ballad of Curtis Loew," and an amped up take on J.J. Cale's "Call Me The Breeze." Chock full of rock 'n' roll swagger, outlaw attitudes, searing guitar leads, and most importantly great songwriting, Second Helping signified Lynyrd Skynyrd's true arrival while simultaneously setting the standard for what a great Southern rock album could and should be!
NUTHIN' FANCY
Originally issued on MCA in 1975, Nuthin' Fancy is the third album from Southern rock powerhouse Lynyrd Skynyrd and follow-up to their breakout efforts Pronounced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd and Second Helping. Again enlisting the production skills of Al Kooper who discovered the band and worked on their first two releases, Nuthin' Fancy was Lynyrd Skynyrd's first to break into the Top 10, peaking at #9 and subsequently going platinum. Boasting a harder hitting sound than its predecessors and some of Ronnie Van Zant's finest songwriting on classics like "Saturday Night Special," "On The Hunt" and "Whiskey Rock-A-Roller," Lynyrd Skynyrd doesn't necessarily try to reinvent the wheel here, but they do immortalize their well earned reputation as a true rock band of the highest order, Southern or otherwise!
GIMME BACK MY BULLETS
In true fashion, Lynyrd Skynyrd followed up the runaway success of their essential first three albums rebel style with the very hard rockin' 1976 fan favorite Gimme Back My Bullets. Somewhat of a transitional album, the group's fourth full-length overall finds Skynyrd replacing band founder and producer Al Kooper with Tom Dowd, boasting a 2-guitar line-up for the first time after the departure of Ed King, and incorporating a female backup vocal group into the mix to boot. The rugged and grooving nine track effort lives and breathes the rock 'n' roll life style and all the spoils and pitfalls that come with it and is filled with Southern fried standards like the hard hitting title cut, anthemic "Double Trouble," yearning "Searchin" and yet another successful take on a J.J. Cale classic with "I Got The Same Old Blues."
STREET SURVIVORS
The final album recorded with original frontman Ronnie Van Zant and lone studio effort with guitarist Steve Gaines, who both passed away in a tragic plane crash three days after its release, 1977's Street Survivors is both mythical for its historical significance as well as infallible for its songwriting quality. Helmed by Gimme Back My Bullets producer Tom Dowd, Street Survivors is drenched in earthy vibes and live-from-the-floor rawness, the sense of spontaneity and interplay underlining some of the group’s tautest albeit loosest material. Songs flow with an effortless ease, and whether it’s the rough and tumble anthem "What's Your Name," slithering organ-backed rollick of “I Never Dreamed,” swampy cautionary tale “That Smell,” or autobiographical honky-tonk “Ain’t No Good Life,” Skynryd clicks on all cylinders and then some throughout!
ONE MORE FROM THE ROAD
1976's One More From the Road is the first live album from southern rock road warriors Lynyrd Skynyrd and the lone live release from the group prior to the devastating plane crash that killed band members Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines and Cassie Gaines. Issued just three years after their barnstorming 1973 debut and only a few months removed from the release of the band's fourth full-length, the double album shot straight to the Top Ten and remains one of Skynyrd's best-selling titles to date. The scope and consistency of the material the group compiled after just four albums is astonishing and their uncanny ability to elevate the songs in blazing fashion here only confirms their reputation as one of the best live band's of all-time. Featuring such band classics and concert favorites as "Workin' For MCA," "Tuesday's Gone," "Saturday Night Special," "Sweet Home Alabama," "Gimme Three Steps," "Call Me the Breeze," and "Free Bird."
