Description
Rare original 1986 U.S. pressing of La Orquesta Yambo – Renacer on Cayito (0Y001). A dynamic Afro-Cuban salsa LP with a mix of traditional son, soulful salsa romántica, and touches of fusion jazz. This album captures the group’s powerful brass arrangements, intricate percussion, and rich vocal harmonies. Standout moments include the title track “Renacer,” the percussion-driven “Palo Mayombe,” and the English-language gem “Am I Dreaming.”
Led by pianist Archie Pereira, with a stellar lineup including Hector Nunez (lead vocals), Carlos E. Garcia (timbales/batá), and Frankie “Hollywood” Rodriguez (trombone). Trumpet section features Elmer Brown, Kenny Anderson, and Paul Sorenson—giving the horn arrangements a sharp, energetic punch.
Perfect for fans of 1980s salsa dura with a polished yet earthy sound, this LP delivers both dancefloor energy and musical sophistication.
