Description

"Getting Sicker," by Lars Tetens, released on Normal Records in 198?. Killer under-the-radar private out of rural Central New York. The release is a bit of a puzzle, lending it a kind of outsider status - the artist wrote all tracks, recorded them with a handful of friends in a small town, but also recorded a track in Paris and one in Miami; his buddy Larry, who accompanies him on most tracks, is pictured on the back and looks like a gay boy toy posed in a red leopard thong; the record seems to be dedicated to his mom, who perhaps is posing with him on the striking cover; the record is a "benefit record for the Tri-County Center for Dispute Resolution." To the music: every track is fantastic, with tortured vocals and a relentless groove, spanning lo-fi disco ball electro; cacophonous post-punk; No Wave funk, and gleaming, cheeky New Wave. It's all off-kilter, ambitious, and seriously great. Highest recommendation. Rare. Both vinyl and cover in excellent condition.
