Description
An original 2nd press of Zeppelin I on the UK Atlantic red & plum label. Matrix A1/B1. Label is consistent with 2nd press and publishing credits are 'Warner Bros.' The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original MacNeill cover. Zeppelin text is orange in colour and there's a grey-stripe running along the bottom of the front cover. Also included is an original Atlantic 'plastic bag warning' inner sleeve from the time. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In superb condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a few marks - but nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. Zeppelin really was born to be played on red & plum Atlantic - it just sounds so darn good! The power of Zeppelin comes across by the bag load, but you also get the finesse too. Even the quiet sections play clean - this is a supremely well preserved copy. Interference is very very minor. All we detected was a few isolated crackles in a couple of moments [e.g. in track 1]. And even this is very very minor. I think it would be difficult going any better than this copy..you'd have to be finding an unplayed copy to be quite frank. This baby is a keeper...
Cover (Ex-) In great shape and has really been looked after down the years. These covers often turn up with a fair bit of ageing and the dreaded laminate lift! Not here - this copy is in very fine form indeed. Yes, there's a touch of laminate lift on the extreme left, a couple of light indentations, and a couple of very light age spots...But that's it. The rear is in similar condition and seems to have largely escaped the usual creasing - one tiny sticker removal mark and a scratch over JPJ's face. Edge wear is very light and all the text on the spine is fully legible. Overall the cover retains perfect rigidity and lies totally flat. A super specimen.
Inner (Ex) Lightest of ageing. No splits or markings.
