Collector's Note: This is the highly sought-after Monarch Pressing featuring the Robert Ludwig (RL) mastering on both sides. Widely considered the definitive "hot" pressing of this masterpiece.

Vinyl Condition (Play Tested)

This record was fully play tested and evaluated using a Parks Audio Waxwing phono preamp with grading analysis.

Waxwing Playback Grade: A (with frequent A+ peaks)

  • Playback is exceptionally clean, quiet, and dynamic.

  • The audio is vivid and powerful, characteristic of the RL mastering.

  • Important grading note: The Parks Audio Waxwing analyzes surface noise, distortion, and playback artifacts in real time. The consistent "A" grade (peaking at A+) reflects a very high-quality listening experience. As shown in the app screenshots, the last timestamp represents the grade maintained for the remainder of the side through the full playthrough.

Visual notes:

  • Vinyl is glossy and looks amazing.

  • There are some light, superficial scuffs consistent with original paper sleeve contact; these do not affect playback.

  • Labels & Spindle: The labels feature vivid colors and the spindle hole is incredibly clean, showing very little evidence of play.

  • Protection: The record has been placed in a high-quality 3mil Vinyl Storage Solution (VSS) inner sleeve for maximum protection.

Jacket / Sleeve Condition

  • Jacket is still in original shrink wrap.

  • Condition: Excellent. The shrink has a few minor tears (visible in photos) and was cut at the opening side.

  • Seams: Extremely well-preserved with no seam splits.

  • Wear: Slight edge wear on the corners and the opening side, consistent with a vintage 1973 release.

  • Gatefold: Because it is still in the shrink, the gatefold remains tight and well-protected.

Summary & Shipping

This is a "grail" copy for many collectors—an original Monarch RL Sterling pressing in its original shrink. The playback is verified by Waxwing analysis to match its beautiful visual condition, ensuring you get the full "hot" Ludwig sound without the guesswork of an ungraded vintage copy.
