Led Zeppelin II from 1969...early pressing known as the "HOT MIX" US 1st pressing (with the 1841 Broadway address on the labels), featuring Robert Ludwig's "hot" mastering on both sides. These were withdrawn early because the high bass levels caused low-grade cartridges to mistrack, leading people to return the album on the belief that it was defective. Another engineer was then hired to recut a much less "hot" version of the album, and that is the far more common version.
On some copies the Sterling Sound credit, "SS", appears in both runouts following Robert Ludwig's "RL", and on others the "SS" appears only in the Side Two runout. The "RL" will still appear in both runouts. This pressing is as follows:
- Matrix / Runout (Side A Runout: Variant 4): ST-A-691671-A LW W AT RL
- Matrix / Runout (Side B Runout: Variant 4): ST-A-691672-A LWP AT RL SS W
THIS IS NOT A TOP COPY...there are scuffs on side two that have very little effect on the playback...this has surface noise on both sides and ticks and pops BUT NO SKIPS OF HANG UPS which is why I recorded it and uploaded it at www.nova104.net so you can hear it to see if you want to bid on it. It's a piece of history that normally sells for high dollar but since it is not a TOP COPY I have a low opening bid.
Since you can see all the pictures and listen to the entire LP BEFORE you bid then you know what you are getting so no returns or refunds. Buyer pays S&H and I will pay Insurance since this is so rare. Paypal Only
