Led Zeppelin II LP Robert Ludwig SS Hot Mix (Both Sides) VG+(NM-)/VG+ MO SD 8236.

I AM A LONG TIME RECORD COLLECTOR, and I stand behind my grades with a guarantee (see below).

This is a true Robert Ludwig Sterling Sound hot mix that has "RL" and "SS" etched on both sides. The label matrix: ST-A-691671-MO and ST-A-691672-MO. The dead wax matrix side 1: ST-A-691671-MO-MR(stamp in circle) BB LW (triangle) 13933 AT RL SS W. Dead wax matrix side 2: ST-A-691672-MO-CC MR(stamp in circle) LW RL SS (triangle) 13933-X W (2) AT. **The MR(stamp in circle) is a 'best guess' because the stamp on both sides is light and hard to read.

Label has 1841 Broadway address.

The cover is VG+ with some very light soiling, a very small name in pen ("Don") on the back, and edge wear most apparent on the spine. If there were a separate grade for the inside gatefold spread, it would be NM. No seam splits (or 'almost' seam splits). Only extremely light hint of ring wear at the top that has not worn through the color.

The labels are easily NM or better with no spindle marks.

For the LP, I am giving two grades: the Visual Grade is VG+ almost entirely due to two fingernail marks on side 1 (see detail photo). And I am sure they are fingernail marks because I put them there. Because I'm an idiot. Any other marks are, for the most part, not apparent until you examine it under very bright light. Then you will find a small number of very light sleeve grazes / marks (none of which result in noise). Except for the fingernail marks, the lp initially presents itself in normal lighting / casual exam as NM. Though, to be fair, even without the fingernail marks, this lp would still likely grade at VG+ (but I personally would call it "VG++!").

The Listening Grade is NM-. The surface noise is primarily little more than you would hear on a new lp. The lead-in on side 2 has more noticeable / apparent surface noise, but otherwise side two is a NM- "listen". As for the obvious noted fingernail marks, they create surprisingly minor effects. Actually, one creates no apparent noise. The other creates a tick so light it could be missed. And even if noticed, it's only discernible for a handful of revolutions mid-song (quiet moment), and for a handful of revolutions at the break. I will say that my turntable is a Mid/Low Technics with a $75 cartridge/stylus, so allow some variation on the above if played on more sensitive equipment.
