Description
Hello and welcome to a auction for a made in Great Brittan 1970 plum label Led Zeppelin III, LP # 2401002. It is marked "Produced by Jimmy Page, Executive Producer: Peter Grant" credited on top half of labels. It is also marked Warner Bros. Music Ltd and the Matrix numbers end with A5 and B5, with “So Mote it be” on matrix. The wheel on the front jacket spins. The vinyl and sleeve is VG and it plays through on my turntable.
Some more details: I rate the LP as VG. It has some spotting on the labels, the name of the past owner is in pen on the side 2 label. Side 1 has a long very light mark that does not effect play along with some other minor light marks. Side 2 has a very light mark you can kinda feel across the 1st track (please see pictures). Also side 2 has a light visible mark across the last 2 tracks that do not effect play. I bet someone with a ultrasonic cleaner could reduce these issues. The cover is also a VG, it has the owners name in the top right gatefold in pen but is quite faded. The corners are sharp but the bottom right front to back corners are "krinkly" from storage wear and handling and god knows what else since 1970 (see pictures). It is marked "Atlantic Deluxe" on the front jacket.
I've seen beater copies of this LP sell for $50 and near mint versions sell for over $300. I figure I'll let the free market decide and start it at $29.
Like I said I played it through. The Peter Grant mix is GLORIUS !
