Description

Led Zeppelin III ~ 2401002 Red & Plum / Peter Grant / Wheel ~ A5/B5 VG/EX/EX

Release Info

The third studio album from the boys. Composed largely at a remote cottage in Wales known as Bron-Yr-Aur, this work represented a maturing of the band's music towards a greater emphasis on folk and acoustic sounds.

Whilst this divided fans and critics alike, it is now widely acknowledged for showing that Led Zeppelin were more than just a conventional rock band and that they could branch out into wider musical territory.

Labels: Nice and clean. Some light spindle trails. A feint little 1 cm scratch to the label below the spindle hole where the white shows through

Spindle hole: Nice and clean

Playing surface: Side One looks really nice with very slight wear. Side Two has a few marks, a hairline and some light scuffing, but it is still well presented.

Run Off: There are some light marks.

Sound*: EX

After listening right through this album, the sound has great depth, range of sound and clarity. Nice loud press with no skips or jumps. A few very light spells of trace noise only

Overall its a excellent sounding copy

Cover & sleeve*: EX

Spine: A couple of light bumps to the surface. Its very straight, perfectly readable, with sharp colours and in great shape with no laminate damage.

Seams: No splits or damage.

Opening: Very straight with feint curving near the edges

Front Cover: Apart from some very light discolouration along the outer edges, its in fantastic shape. One corner is lightly rubbed

Back Cover: Apart from some very light discolouration along the outer edges, its in fantastic shape. The wheel works perfectly

Gatefold area: Really clean with a few tiny age spots, but at first glance it looks NM

Overall a really nice copy with loud sound. The vinyl looks good as does the cover, which is in superb condition and is very close to NM

VINYL GRADE DESCRIPTION GUIDE

MINT (M): A perfect record that looks like it has just left the factory, with NO flaws what so ever looking as though it had never been handled. No scuffs or scratches, blotches or stains.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record appears virtually flawless at first glance and has a great luster. It should only have very minor scuffs or marks on the surface of the vinyl, which are only visible under strong light. It should play without any noise particularly over the flaw.

EXCELLENT (EX): A record with only minor scuffs, which are only slightly visible. There may be more than a few scuffs or marks. It should play without any noise over the flaw.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record shows wear which could include surface scuffs and marks, blotches or stains. The vinyl still has a great luster, but the flaws will be noticeable to the naked eye. The flaws may cause some surface noise.

A plus (+) or (-) following the condition indicate variations of the condition i.e. VG+ is in slightly better condition than VG but not excellent.
