Description

LED ZEPPELIN -III

This NEAR MINT UK 1st pressing dates from initial October 1970 release on the 'plum' Atlantic label: 2401002

The labels have all of the correct characteristics of the earliest pressing:

  • Executive Producer: Peter Grant credit.

  • The ’2401002? catalogue number, without any gaps or hyphens.

  • A parallel central white band.

  • ‘Warner Bros. Music Ltd' publishing credits.

Later pressings re-name 'Celebration Day' as ‘Celebration’.

  • Matrix numbers: 2401002 A-5 & 2401002 B-5

    Stamper codes: 12 2 & 11 3

'Do What Thou Wilt' & 'So Mote It Be' are hand-etched into each run-out.

    Vinyl weight: 146g

Housed in a fully laminated 'E.J. Day' printed gatefold cover, with fully functioning picture wheel & original poly-lined inner.

    Labels: NEAR MINT

A beautifully clean & unworn set with just a couple of tiny/faint well aimed spindle marks around each totally unworn centre hole.

    Visual: EXCELLENT +

Clean & glossy playing surfaces where the only noticeable blemish in strong daylight are two faint cloudy marks on side 2 and  a similar one on side 1, but no scratches of surface wear of any kind. Closer examination beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals only some harmless wispy paper-type hairlines consistent with inner-sleeve removal on side 2, together with a sparkling rainbow shine. Both sides of this well looked after copy lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

    Sound Quality: NEAR MINT

An exceptional sounding copy which play flawlessly. My playcheck found no evidence of any groove/playwear or any clicks, pops or other audible distractions. Apart from a touch of regular low-level vinyl background between tracks, it cannot be faulted.

    Cover: EXCELLENT +

A clean & strong example of this deluxe cover which is which and glossy throughout, free from any significant faults or wear.

The front panel is bright & clean with a hint of storage against the light and with a fully functioning and unworn picture wheel. There is a touch of shelfwear to the lower two corners but no heavy bumps or bruising to any part.

The rear panel is clean & bright with again a hint of storage against the light but nothing major.

Inside, both panels are clean & unblemished.

Both seams are unstressed and unsplit and the spine is fully laminated and unworn.

    Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT +

Clean, uncreased & unyellowed with just a tiny nick to the upper right edge, but no writing, tears or seam splits.
