Description

An original 1st press of Zep IV on the Red & Plum Atlantic label. Matrix A3/B4. Note how the labels also hold the early typo 'Misty Mountain Top' rather than 'Hop'..as it should have been. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover. Also included is the original textured inner sleeve with flipbacks exposed [per 1st issue]. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In superb condition and has only seen light use. Look at the label shots and notice there's still waste plastic in the spindle hole. Under close inspection we could make out a couple of light marks nothing obvious, heavy, or noticeable. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback with two slight deviations. What makes this copy so impressive is that it plays really clean, all the way through. Usually the acoustic tracks are there to trip up even the best looking copies - but this example even aces these low-key tracks. Intros and inbetweens really nice and clean and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. A storming rendition which, thankfully, is largely unhindered by background. You might detect a few crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side, but it's very minor in nature and infrequent. As I mentioned above the acoustic tracks play clean ...like Evermore/Stairway, and even California. "California" is really difficult to find playing clean - so this copy genuinely is low-mileage. The only deviations are one isolated tick midway through Stairway. And then about four ticks part way through 'Black Dog' - very short and pretty innocuous. Given the sheer quality of audio on offer throughout this should be a small price to pay. But for this minor issue a superbly preserved copy. Doubt I've witnessed any better...
Cover (Ex-) Front and back lie nice and flat with little creasing or surface wear. The interior looks smart - no issues here. There's edge wear in places, but nothing epic. The spine seems to have escaped the worst of the wear and looks good. Overall a very well preserved original copy which has retained its rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Bottom edge has a two inch split. There's some annotation atop one side - reasonably neat. Otherwise in very nice condition.
