Description

Led Zeppelin’s fourth (and some would say best) album, catalogue No. 2401012 on the Atlantic Red/Plum label. Matrix numbers are A3 and B3. An EXCELLENT example of this original 1971 FIRST UK PRESSING. This has the famous ‘Pecko Duck’ and ‘Porky’ etchings in the run off grooves on each side. As with all these early Zeppelin pressings the power they got into those grooves is astonishing ! This recording has a tremendous power and presence that surges out of the speakers and (very pleasantly) kicks you in the aural senses !! Bonzo’s drums are always a revelation and here it feels like you’re right there with him when He’s pounding out ‘Four Sticks’ and ‘When The Levee Breaks’. The detail and clarity of the quieter passages in ‘Stairway’ and ‘The Battle Of Evermore’ are wonderful. Play it at number 11 and hear why its one of the best albums ever made by any band anywhere !! Amazing !! The vinyl is in almost UNMARKED, PRISTINE CONDITION and sounds HUGE !!  There is a click audible in the first half of ‘Going To California’, apart from this it plays superbly and considering there are no clicks or pops anywhere else, I would grade it as EXCELLENT. The sleeve is also in EXCELLENT condition. There are no tears or splits and only a little wear to the edges. The inner sleeve is also in fine order with no splits or tears. Certainly, an excellent FIRST UK PRESSING of an awesome record by an awesome band captured at the height of their powers !!
