Description
First things first...this label design is NOT the very 1st iteration possible. They made the feather error on the very 1st copies - but repeated the error on labels a bit later. I'd estimate this pressing dates from November 1971 - shortly after release. Matrix A3/B3 - very 1st cut available. 'Mountain Hop' is now showing correctly. Lovely solid pressing and great audio. Comes housed in an original heavy-card gatefold with original textured inner sleeve with exposed flips [5 credits]. 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex) In great condition and has clearly been looked after down the years. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of slight marks per side. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of minor deviations. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. As you would expect on these early red & plum...impressive audio...and you won't be finding better true audio anywhere. Clean feed and you are getting the real energy and power of Zep. But the real test of these early copies comes as you hit the acoustic numbers...because finding quiet playing copies on these popular lowkey numbers is not easy. A couple of minor ticks on the way into Evermore - but very brief. And, importantly, it's playing clean which is so so important on this very intricate number. Anyone for a clean run into Stairway? Because I can tell you that is unusual - but ideal if you can find it. That delicate acoustic sound on the run in is rarely preserved to this level, and often the 1st thing to go. But this copy is totally nailing these tricky acoustic numbers. California plays clean too...again is a mega fussy one. Superb! Pure magic.
Cover (Vg) Original solid card copy with good surfaces. Not much sign of creasing and a little bit of scuffing top right on the rear. The interior looks superb. Expect a bit of edge wear in places - but not too bad. The spine is in pretty good order with some wear at the ends. Nice firm sharp openings. Overall very good rigidity still.
Inner (Vg+) Fully genuine. I have removed the old tape at the edges. You have the dark edges as evidence. On the upside the tape totally protected the edges - this means, unusually, no splits!
European Tracked mail is slightly cheaper than quoted - we will refund difference on payment.
