Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin III - Rare 1st Pressing UK Original 1970.
A nice example of Led Zeppelin’s Third Album release from 1970 on the Red/Maroon Atlantic Record Labels, with, Peter Grant Label credit, correctly set catalogue number on both record labels, “Do What You Wilt” in run off area on side 1, and So Mote It Be on side 2 run off area, and a fully working incorporated wheel.
1st Press Stereo Atlantic 2401002
Hand Etched Matrix numbers: 2401002 A-5 do what thou wilt 2401002 B-5 so mote it be
Vinyl: Retains all of its original glossy shine, indeed the only downside to this Zep classic is two 1 inch scratches although one is none feelable these scratches are across tracks 1 and two side one, they do not affect play too badly. [a few pops is all] Under strong light there are quite a few wispy sleeve in & out traces. Would be an easy EX.But will grade VG.
Play: I have just played this right through apart from a little crackle & a few minor pops over the scratches it sounds great.
SIDE 1 TRACK 1. OK. T.2. POPS A LITTLE BIT OVER SCRATCH. T 3.EX. T 4. A LITTLE CRACKLE AT FIRST. T.5. EX......................
SIDE 2 T. 1.EX. T. 2.EX. T.3. EX . T.4. EX. T.5 EX.
Both record labels are in outstanding Nr. Mint condition, beautiful, bright and undamaged record labels with no spindle traces to the center of each record label.
The LP comes in it’s original poly lined date coded inner bag, and is protected in it’s original De Luxe Gatefold sleeve.
This sleeve is a super example in EX condition. No seam splits or tears, just light storage signs to the bottom edge. The inner gatefold part of the sleeve is in EX. condition. The revolving wheel that is incorporated into the front panel of the sleeve is in perfect working order.
I TRY TO ADHERE TO THE PARAMETERS OF THE GUIDE BELOW
Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide:
"MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
