AFTER A BREAK OF SEVERAL MONTHS FOR HEALTH-RELATED REASONS, I’M BACK TO CONTINUE TO BRING YOU MORE BEATLES AND ROCK & ROLL VINYL AND MEMORABILIA!

In this auction is a NICE LED ZEPPELIN PROMOTIONAL SINGLE.

As you probably know, PROMOTIONAL RECORDS were ONLY released by record companies to the radio stations and DJs for on-air play or to VIPs in the music industry. They were produced in very small/limited quantities, and they were NOT available for sale to the general public; therefore, they are valued more by vinyl collectors. Often, certain promotional records are particularly hard-to-find and have become highly sought after by collectors and especially by the fans of certain recording artists and/or bands.

Here is the info:

• “WHOLE LOTTA LOVE” b/w “WHOLE LOTTA LOVE” by Led Zeppelin.

• This is Atlantic Records 2690.

• It is a PROMOTIONAL SINGLE (7-inch/45 RPM Record)

• Both sides have Red and White Labels with the Long Version (5:33) on one side, and the Short Version (3:12) on the other side.

• Both sides are in MONO (Monaural).

• As you may know, "Whole Lotta Love" was first released in October 1969 on "Led Zeppelin II," the band's second LP, which became their first number-one LP and also included "Heartbreaker" and "Ramble On".

• Atlantic Records pushed for a single version of "Whole Lotta Love" against Led Zep manager Grant who said "We never went in just to record a single. That was the golden rule. No singles."

• But the pressure from Atlantic Records was so great that "Whole Lotta Love" was edited from it's original runtime of 5:34 down to only 3:12 and was released as an edited single in November, 1969 with the shorter edit for AM radio.

• The edited single version received such critical acclaim that it flew up the charts, peaking at #4 for the week of January 31, 1970. "Whole Lotta Love" still stands as Led Zeppelin's highest-charting track on the Billboard chart.

• However, Jimmy Page was not impressed with the short version stating: “Weeks before its release, [Atlantic] sent me an acetate of the edit. I played it once, hated it, and never listened to the short version again.”

• The VINYL is in NICE VG CONDITION with a number of very light surface hairlines/scuffs (none are at all “feel-able”). The Vinyl has LOTS OF GLOSS.

• The SHORT VERSION LABEL has a couple of very small and very light smudges or spots and a VERY TINY “FLEA-BITE” just to the left of the big letter “A” in “ATLANTIC”. The LONG VERSION LABEL has a VERY SMALL gray mark on the right side of the label under the letter “L” in “VOCAL” and a VERY TINY “FLEA-BITE” above big letter “A” in “ATLANTIC” on the edge of the label.

• This PROMO RECORD comes in what I believe is its correct Atlantic Records stock/generic paper sleeve.
