Led Zeppelin ii plum/red labels. Very early 1969 pressing and matrix numbers with The Lemon Song on the side 1 label. Soon replaced with Killing Floor on later pressings due to plagiarism allegations,

I have been collecting LPs since the late 1960s and at one time had amassed 12 copies of Led Zeppelin 2, mainly rare early copies. It’s time to let another one go just in time for the 50th anniversary of the UK release of this stunning album from 31st October 1969.

All of my trashed/scratched/1970s partied out copies went during the Summer, the next few are considerably better!

Early pressing of this classic album on the original pre 1972 oil crisis heavy weight vinyl

VINYL GRADED UNDER INTENSE SUNLIGHT

I consider my description to be HONEST and fairly conservative.

Vinyl visual side 1- Several sleeve removal marks (same as most LPs) Several fine hairlines nothing deep or feelable. Not able to photograph anything.

Vinyl visual side 2-Several sleeve removal marks. 1 very small scuff on track 1, 2mm (photo) Several fine hairlines, nothing deep or feelable.

Showing very few signs of being played, vinyl is clean and glossy, visual grading Excellent.

Labels-a few light spindle marks, No doodles etc EX+

Sleeve-

Original Matt Gatefold sleeve in a much lighter chocolate shade than later Killing Floor pressings, grading as Very Good.

Inner sleeve is a bit creased but is original, grading as Very good.

AUDIO.

Subjected to critical listening on highly revealing high end kit at a moderately high volume, and please bear in mind this is a vintage vinyl 50 years old.

Non visible slight pressing fault has resulted in a quarter to a third of a revolution static sound in the VERY quiet parts and between tracks, both sides in same place on the vinyl. Without that it would be a strong EX. Very rare odd tick plus a small amount of dust crackle, a light clean probably would help. If you have a highly revealing system and need perfection, this LP probably isn’t for you.

NO SKIPS OR STICKING ON EITHER SIDE. I’m being brutally harsh on this album so I’ve graded the audio strictly to the wording of the grading system below as VERY GOOD.

It is, above all, a 50 year old record with history, close to the master tape, the music is dynamic and vibrant, puts CDs and modern re-masters completely to shame.

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

NEAR MINT: The record itself has only been played a couple of times and still looks as new. The playback on the record itself will be superb. Any extra items will be in perfect condition. The Sleeve will have only the very minimum of wear (just about as new).

EXCELLENT +: The record is near enough Mint. Perhaps played a few times but still looks and plays superb. The cover will have only the very slightest of wear.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no MAJOR deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and MILD SCRATCHES. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
